A Food Service Worker or Kitchen Assistant in Japan is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals in restaurants, cafeterias, or food service facilities. The worker helps maintain cleanliness, supports chefs or cooks, and ensures customers receive high-quality service according to Japanese hospitality standards.
Typically 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Shift work common in restaurants (morning, afternoon, evening, or night)
Overtime may be required during peak hours or festivals
Physical work and standing for long periods
Basic food preparation and cooking skills
