A Waterproofing Technician or Waterproofing Worker in Japan is responsible for applying protective coatings, membranes, and sealants to roofs, walls, basements, and other structures to prevent water infiltration and damage. The role ensures the durability and safety of buildings while complying with Japanese construction standards and safety regulations.
Typically 8 hours per day
Around 40 hours per week
Overtime may occur during project deadlines
Work may take place outdoors, on rooftops, or in confined spaces
Application of waterproofing materials such as membranes, coatings, and sealants
Surface preparation, cleaning, and leveling
Knowledge of different waterproofing techniques: liquid applied, sheet membranes, bituminous coatings
Use of tools such as trowels, rollers, brushes, heat guns, and protective equipment
Attention to detail and quality workmanship
Knowledge of safety procedures for working with chemicals and at heights
Teamwork and communication skills
Prepare surfaces for waterproofing by cleaning, repairing, and leveling
Apply waterproofing materials according to specifications
Inspect existing surfaces for leaks, cracks, or damage
Repair and maintain waterproofing systems
Follow construction drawings and waterproofing plans
Adhere to safety and environmental regulations
Maintain tools, equipment, and materials
Coordinate with construction teams for timely project completion
