An Automobile Repair & Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles such as cars, trucks, and vans. The role includes performing routine maintenance (oil changes, brake checks, tire replacement), diagnosing mechanical or electrical problems, repairing engine systems, and ensuring vehicles operate safely and efficiently. Technicians may work in automobile workshops, service centers, or manufacturing facilities and must follow safety and quality standards.
40 hours per week (standard full-time schedule)
Monday to Friday, some workshops also open on Saturdays
Typical shift: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Overtime may be required during busy service periods
Knowledge of automobile engines, transmission, braking, and electrical systems
Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Attention to detail for accurate repairs and safety checks
Physical stamina for lifting parts and standing for long periods
Communication skills for explaining issues to customers or supervisors
Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical or electrical problems
Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake servicing
Repair or replace damaged components like engines, transmissions, and electrical systems
Use diagnostic equipment to detect faults
Test vehicles after repair to ensure proper functioning
