Job Description

A Medical Device Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving medical devices such as diagnostic equipment, imaging systems, surgical instruments, and patient monitoring devices. They ensure that devices meet safety, regulatory, and functional standards while being user-friendly for healthcare professionals.

Medical Device Design Engineers collaborate with biomedical engineers, mechanical engineers, electronics engineers, and regulatory teams. They create 3D models, prototypes, and technical drawings, conduct performance simulations, and oversee testing for reliability and compliance with international medical standards

Typical working hours:

  • 8 hours per day

  • 40 hours per week

  •  9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (including 1-hour lunch)

Overtime:
May be required during project deadlines. Overtime is compensated according to Japanese labor laws.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop new medical devices and equipment.

  2. Create 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.

  3. Conduct prototype development and testing.

  4. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

  5. Collaborate with engineers, clinicians, and regulatory teams.

  6. Analyze performance and reliability data.

  7. Suggest improvements for existing devices.

  8. Prepare technical documentation and reports.

  9. Participate in product validation and clinical trials.

  10. Support production teams for device manufacturing.
