Mine Planning Engineers are responsible for designing and optimizing mining operations. They plan how minerals are extracted efficiently, safely, and with minimal environmental impact.
In Japan, there are still opportunities in metal mining, quarrying, tunneling, and resource management projects. Mine planners often work on feasibility studies, production scheduling, and cost optimization.
Standard: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
Weekly: 40–45 hours
Overtime: Possible during project deadlines
Work type: Combination of office work + site visits (mines/quarries)
Knowledge of mining methods (surface & underground)
Mine design and planning skills
Proficiency in software (e.g., Surpac, MineSched, AutoCAD)
Data analysis and resource estimation
Understanding of safety and environmental standards
Problem-solving and decision-making
Communication skills (English required; Japanese preferred)
Design mine layouts and extraction plans
Develop production schedules and cost estimates
Conduct feasibility studies and resource analysis
Optimize mining operations for efficiency and safety
Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and site managers
Monitor mine performance and adjust plans as needed
Prepare technical reports and documentation
