Material Reliability Engineers ensure that materials used in products perform reliably over time under different conditions such as stress, temperature, corrosion, and fatigue.
They test and analyze materials to predict their lifespan and prevent failures.
Standard: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Monday to Friday)
Weekly: 40–45 hours
Overtime: Occasional during testing phases or product launches
Knowledge of material properties (metals, polymers, ceramics)
Reliability testing (fatigue, creep, corrosion, thermal cycling)
Failure analysis and root cause investigation
Statistical analysis and life prediction models
Familiarity with standards (ISO, JIS, ASTM)
Lab testing equipment and data interpretation
Problem-solving and analytical thinking
Conduct reliability testing of materials under various conditions
Analyze failure mechanisms and identify root causes
Predict material lifespan and performance
Develop strategies to improve durability and reliability
