Job Description

Plant Physiology & Genetics professionals study plant growth, development, and genetic traits to improve crop yield, resistance, and sustainability. They conduct research on plant metabolism, gene expression, breeding techniques, and biotechnology applications. In Japan, this role is important in agriculture, food security, pharmaceuticals, and environmental sustainability.The role involves conducting laboratory experiments, greenhouse studies, and field research to analyze plant functions such as photosynthesis, nutrient absorption, and gene expression. Researchers use molecular biology techniques (DNA analysis, gene sequencing, tissue culture) to develop improved and disease-resistant plant varieties.

Working Hours

  • Standard: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)

  • Weekly: 40–45 hours

  • Overtime: Occasional during experiments or research deadlines

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of plant physiology and genetics

  • Laboratory techniques (PCR, DNA sequencing, gene editing, tissue culture)

  • Data analysis and bioinformatics tools

  • Experimental design and research methodology

  • Statistical analysis (R, Python, SPSS)

  • Attention to detail and scientific reporting

  • Teamwork and collaboration

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on plant growth, physiology, and genetic traits
