Job Description

Bridge, Road, and Infrastructure Design Engineers in Japan are responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing construction of bridges, highways, tunnels, and urban infrastructure projects. They ensure structural safety, functionality, and compliance with Japanese engineering standards. Engineers collaborate with government agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative, sustainable, and efficient infrastructure solutions for urban and rural areas.

Working Hours

  • Standard: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

  • Weekly: 40–45 hours

  • Overtime: Common during project deadlines, construction phases, or inspections

  • Work type: Combination of office design work, CAD modeling, field site visits, and coordination meetings

Required Skills

  • Structural and civil engineering design knowledge

  • Proficiency in CAD, BIM, and structural modeling software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD.Pro)

  • Bridge and road design standards knowledge (Japanese and international)

  • Geotechnical and environmental assessment understanding

  • Project management and coordination skills

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Field inspection and supervision abilities

  • Communication skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Design bridges, highways, tunnels, and other infrastructure

  • Conduct feasibility studies, structural analysis, and environmental assessments

  • Prepare detailed construction drawings and specifications

  • Coordinate with government authorities, contractors, and project teams

  • Oversee construction, quality control, and safety compliance

  • Perform inspections, testing, and evaluation of completed structures

  • Ensure compliance with Japanese engineering codes and regulations

  • Manage project documentation and reporting
