This role involves collecting, cataloging, and maintaining plant specimens for research, conservation, or botanical databases. The position requires fieldwork to gather plant samples and data management skills to organize and maintain digital and physical records. Tasks include field sampling, herbarium preparation, data entry, and collaboration with researchers. This position contributes to biodiversity studies, conservation programs, and agricultural research
Key Focus Areas:
Field collection and proper preservation of plant specimens
Accurate cataloging and database management
Supporting ecological and botanical research
Collaboration with senior researchers and conservation staff
Standard: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
Weekly: 40–45 hours
Fieldwork may require flexible hours depending on seasons or plant cycles
Work type: Combination of field collection, lab analysis, and database management
Plant identification and taxonomy knowledge
Field collection techniques (sampling, preservation, labeling)
Herbarium and specimen preparation methods
Database management and data entry (Excel, Access, SQL, or specialized botanical databases)
Analytical skills and attention to detail
GIS and mapping software familiarity is a plus
Teamwork, communication skills, and report writing
Collect and document plant specimens from the field
Maintain accurate records and update botanical databases
Prepare specimens for storage or research use (pressing, drying, labeling)
Support ecological and botanical research projects
Collaborate with researchers, conservationists, and academic staff
Ensure compliance with environmental and conservation regulations
Generate reports, data summaries, and maps for research publications
