A Power Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, testing, and maintaining electrical power systems. These professionals ensure efficient generation, distribution, and transmission of electrical energy. This includes grid planning, power flow analysis, fault detection, system modeling, and optimization of energy networks. The role is important in utilities, renewable energy projects, industrial power systems, and infrastructure development.
Typical working hours in Japan:
8 hours per day
40 hours per week
9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (including 1‑hour break)
Power system modeling and analysis (load flow, short‑circuit, stability studies)
Electrical grid design and planning
Power distribution and transmission systems
Knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards
Experience with tools such as:
ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory
MATLAB/Simulink
SCADA and automation tools
Understanding of renewable energy integration (solar, wind) and energy storage systems
