Quality & Reliability Engineers ensure products and systems meet customer expectations, industry standards, and safety regulations. They focus on product quality, reliability testing, failure analysis, and process improvement.
In Japan, these roles are critical in automotive, electronics, aerospace where high-quality standards and zero-defect production are expected.
Standard: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Monday to Friday)
Weekly: 40–45 hours
Overtime: Occasionally required during product launches or audits
Work type: Mix of office work, lab testing, and occasional site inspections
Quality control and reliability testing
Statistical analysis and failure mode analysis (FMEA, RCA)
Knowledge of ISO, JIS, and other quality standards
Process improvement and Six Sigma methodologies
Root cause analysis and problem-solving
Testing equipment and measurement systems knowledge
Communication skills
Software skills: Minitab, MATLAB, or other quality tools
Develop and implement quality and reliability plans
Conduct product testing and reliability analysis
Identify root causes of failures and recommend improvements
Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO, JIS, customer requirements)
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
Monitor supplier quality and conduct audits
Prepare technical reports and documentation
Support continuous improvement initiatives
