Job Description

A Railway Facility Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing railway stations, tracks, signaling equipment, and other railway infrastructure. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of railway facilities, including electrical, mechanical, and structural components. Workers follow strict safety regulations, coordinate with train operations, and perform preventive maintenance to avoid disruptions.

Working Hours

  • 40 hours per week (standard full-time schedule)

  • Shift work required, including nights, weekends, and public holidays

  • Typical shifts: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or rotating shifts, with occasional emergency call-outs

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of railway facility systems, tracks, signaling, and electrical/mechanical components

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting

  • Understanding of railway safety regulations and operational standards

  • Proficiency with tools, diagnostic equipment, and facility maintenance machinery

  • Physical stamina for outdoor work, lifting, and inspection tasks

  • Attention to detail and record-keeping skills

  • Teamwork and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain railway stations, tracks, signaling systems, and other facilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and civil components

  • Repair faults in tracks, signals, or station infrastructure

  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and incidents

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and reports

  • Ensure compliance with railway safety regulations and operational standards

  • Coordinate with train operations to minimize service disruptions

  • Assist in installation or upgrades of railway infrastructure
