A Seafood Processing Worker or Marine Food Production Technician in Japan is responsible for processing, cleaning, packaging, and preserving seafood products according to hygiene, safety, and quality standards. The role ensures that seafood products meet regulatory standards and are prepared efficiently for distribution and sale.
Typically 8 hours per day
Around 40 hours per week
Overtime may occur during peak production periods
Work is mostly indoors in processing facilities, including cold storage areas
Handling, cleaning, and processing seafood according to safety standards
Operating processing, cutting, and packaging machinery
Knowledge of preservation techniques (freezing, refrigeration)
Awareness of hygiene and sanitation requirements
Attention to detail and quality control
Teamwork and communication skills
Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently
Receive, inspect, and sort seafood products
Clean, cut, and prepare seafood for packaging or further processing
Operate machinery for cutting, freezing, and packaging seafood
Monitor quality control and remove defective products
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment
