A Wallpaper Installer or Paper Hanging Technician in Japan is responsible for measuring, cutting, and installing wallpaper or decorative wall coverings in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The role ensures precise alignment, smooth application, and high-quality interior finishes according to construction plans and client specifications.
Typically 8 hours per day
Around 40 hours per week
Overtime may occur during tight project deadlines
Work is mostly indoors and may involve standing, bending, or reaching for extended periods
Measuring, cutting, and aligning wallpaper sheets accurately
Surface preparation, cleaning, and priming before installation
Use of tools such as smoothing brushes, knives, paste applicators, and levels
Knowledge of adhesives and finishing techniques
Attention to detail and aesthetic precision
Problem-solving for pattern alignment and wall imperfections
Teamwork and communication skills
Prepare walls by cleaning, leveling, and priming surfaces
Measure and cut wallpaper to fit walls and corners
Apply adhesives and hang wallpaper sheets according to patterns
Smooth and remove air bubbles for a flawless finish
Repair damaged wallpaper and perform touch-ups as needed
Follow design plans and construction specifications
Maintain tools and installation equipment
Ensure safety and cleanliness on the worksite
