Job Description

A Well Point Construction Worker or Dewatering Technician in Japan is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining well point systems to remove groundwater from construction sites. This role ensures a dry and stable work environment for foundations, excavation, and other civil engineering works, while complying with Japanese construction safety and environmental standards

Working Hours

  • Typically 8 hours per day

  • Around 40 hours per week

  • Overtime may occur during excavation or foundation work

  • Work is mainly outdoors, sometimes in wet, muddy, or confined areas

Required Skills

  • Installation and maintenance of well point dewatering systems

  • Operation of pumps, hoses, and control valves

  • Knowledge of groundwater management and site drainage techniques

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues in pumps and pipelines

  • Awareness of safety and environmental regulations

  • Teamwork and communication skills

  • Physical endurance and manual labor skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Install well point systems for dewatering construction sites

  • Operate pumps and monitor water levels to maintain a dry work area

  • Inspect and maintain dewatering equipment, including pumps, hoses, and valves

  • Adjust system settings for optimal water removal

  • Remove debris and keep work area safe and organized

  • Follow site plans and civil engineering specifications

  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations

  • Coordinate with civil engineers and site supervisors
